What makes therapy at Brilla different?
-
Yes — we've read the books, earned the degrees, and sat through the trainings.
We have tools. We have suggestions.
But we don’t lead with them. We don’t lead with “fixing.”We start by helping you understand how your brain actually works — not in theory, but in your real life.
We start with reflection: what hasn’t worked for you — and what has, even 10%.
That sliver of success matters. It’s where we begin.Your story, your self-knowledge, and your instincts are not secondary here.
They’re the foundation. We’re interested in helping you shore up the strategies that work a bit with more supports/backups so you can leave with a customized toolbox.
You are the expert on you and we’re just here to help you reflect on your lived experience and to reflect back your strengths you may not have acknowledged.
-
At Brilla, many of us live with the same kind of brains we support — nonlinear, fast-moving, creative, often not-so-neurotypical.
So we don’t just like structure — we need it.
Not to control the process, but to make space inside it.
To hold the work steady.
To help you shine on purpose.By your fourth session, we co-create a treatment plan.
We use open notes. We name what we’re doing.
And we invite you into the structure — with tools, clarity, and choice.Structure doesn’t mean we stop the tangents (we love the tangents).
But we bookmark them, and come back.
We redirect gently — not to silence you, but to return you to the path you told us mattered.
This is your time. We protect it.With teens, it might mean using the same check-in every week.
With adults, it might mean pausing to ask:“Do you want to solve this, or stay with the feeling a little longer?”
We believe transparency is part of consent.
We’ll tell you why we ask a question.
We’ll invite you to steer. We never want you to leave session wondering what just happened —
or feeling like you “talked too much” or “got off track.”
We expect big feelings and fast thoughts.
We build the structure to hold them. -
Yes, therapy is more than problem-solving.
But when you’re overwhelmed, stuck, or running on fumes —
having something concrete to try can bring real relief. At Brilla, we don’t believe in waiting weeks to “get to the good part.”
We offer strategies early — not as shortcuts,
but as invitations to experiment.Trying something new gives us data.
If it helps, we build on it.
If it doesn’t, we get curious.
Where’s the block? What’s the pattern?
That’s where the deeper work begins. This isn’t about rushing.
It’s about honoring your time, your hope,
and the part of you that’s already ready to begin. -
At Brilla, we’re serious about evidence-based care —
not just in what we say, but in what we build. When it comes to ADHD, traditional therapy alone often isn’t enough.
That’s not a failure of therapy — it’s a gap in the model. So we bridge that gap.
We integrate evidence-based strategies from the coaching world —
tools that support follow-through, build habits, and improve motivation.
These are not fluff. They’re research-backed interventions
that simply didn’t originate in the therapy world. That doesn’t mean what we do isn’t therapy.
It means our therapy is more responsive, more flexible, and more ADHD-informed.We also offer add-on accountability coaching
for those who want additional support between sessions.
These services are provided by trained, trusted team members — not therapists —
but grounded in the same Brilla values: compassion, structure, and zero shame. You get to choose the support that fits:
just therapy, therapy + coaching, or a blend that evolves with you. -
You weren’t meant to do this alone.
Not the unlearning. Not the relearning.
Not the figuring-it-out-as-you-go.At Brilla, we know that some things can’t be fully healed in silence or solitude.
Sometimes, the shift happens in the presence of others —
in shared language, in a raised eyebrow, in a quiet “same.”
In knowing you’re not the only one.Our support groups and community spaces exist
not as add-ons, but as a core part of the work.
Because healing is easier to hold
when someone else is holding part of it with you. Here, you get to show up as you are — unsure, overwhelmed, curious, brave.
You get to learn out loud.
You get to be witnessed — not evaluated. This is not about being perfect in public.
It’s about finding your footing
in the company of people who get it. -
You don’t live in a vacuum — and neither does your care.
Healing happens in relationship,
so we support you within your system — not separate from it.For families navigating childhood or adolescent ADHD,
our approach often includes individual support for the child
and parent consultation for ADHD —
each with a dedicated provider, working as a team.
Two perspectives. Shared goals.
Collaborative care that stays connected.Because what’s better than one therapist who gets it?
A whole team that does.We also love collaborating with your psychiatrist, pediatrician, or primary care provider when it serves your healing.
You don’t have to manage all the pieces alone — we’re here to help hold the whole picture.
